Booze kills swine flu claims health committee

Music festival organisers have refused to call off an event after Serbia's official government swine flu committee said locals will be safe because they drink more potent spirits.

Medics feared that the folk festival in Guca next month would lead to an increase in the virus because of the high number of foreign visitors, many of them British.

Serbia recorded more swine flu cases earlier this month when more than 10,000 British music-lovers flocked to the Exit festival in Novi Sad.

But the government's emergency swine flu committee has ruled locals are immune to the virus because of the amounts of high alcohol home-brewed brandy they drink, reports Jutarnji List newspaper.
