The 90-year-old founder of discount supermarket chain Aldi has a fortune of GBP 15.7 billion, making him the 10th wealthiest person in the world.
Four other Germans made it into Forbes' list of the world's 100 richest people, which was topped bv Mexican businessman Carlos Slim with GBP 35.3 billion.
Mail-order mogul Michael Otto is 21st on the list with GBP 12.3 billion, Karl Albrecht's brother Theo is 31st with GBP 11 billion, BMW shareholder and Quandt-family heiress Susanne Klatten 51st with GBP 7.3 billion, and banker August von Finck 99th with GBP 4.8 billion.
