Walking holidays can take a hike, now state-of-the art video technology has created virtual strolls for lazy tourists who don't want to work up a sweat.

Fans who love Alpine scenery, but hate the effort, can take a 36-hour hike around the Swiss mountain peaks without ever leaving their laptops.

Tourist chiefs in Graubunden used real walkers to film the HD footage and then uploaded it to website, www.webwandern.ch.

But they hope it will bring more people to visit the region, instead of keeping them at home.

"We don't think it will stop people coming to enjoy the real thing. You can't experience the clean air and the pure countryside by being a couch potato," said spokesman Gieri Spescha
