He might look more Daft Vader than Darth, but this town hall official's Car Wars on illegal parking lots in the Ukraine certainly sent the crooks running back to the park side.

City parking boss Alexei Goncharenko reckons the illegal car parks cost his council tens of thousands of pounds every year in Odessa.

So he set out to strike back dressed at the legendary big screen villain complete with his own light saber.

"These guys just take over one of out car parks, put up a barrier and start taking the money," he explained as he dismantled the entrance to one bogus lot.

"This is public money these people are stealing and we're here to take it back," he added.
