Dacia Renault shrugs off crisis

Romanian Times

Dacia Renault Romania is set to defy the global recession by hiring 500 new workers to  increase production at its Mioveni plant from June in response to soaring export demands.

The company announced the surprising move today (Fri) as production will rise from 1,200 units/day to 1,340 units.

"As a result of the programs to re-launch the auto market, adopted by several countries in Europe, among them Romania, and as a result of the success the Dacia models has at export, the company will rise to 1,340 units/day", the company announced.

The 500 new employees will be recruited mainly from former employees, for determined period.

Dacia Renault Romania had hard times at the end of last year, because of lack of orders, and production was halted for a month.

Germany’s scrap cars program, which offers 2,500 Euros if an old vehicle is recycled and a new one is bought, has resurrected the Dacia sales.
