Wizz Air, the largest low-fare, low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, announced today (Weds) that it would operate flights from Bucharest to Milan, Malpensa airport as of July 2012.
"We anticipate that this new route will become very popular for those travelling for business or for tourists," Wizz Air's representative for Romania Gyorgy Abran told a press conference.
The company already operates Bucharest-Milan flights on the other airport of the Italian city, Bergamo. There are ten weekly flights covering this route. With the opening of the new route, Wizz Air will operate as of July two daily flights from Bucharest to Milan.
The low cost company operates flights in Romania from four major airports: Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj Napoza and Targu Mures.
In 2011, the company had a total of 2.16 million passengers in Romania only. This represents an increase by 29 per cent as against 2010.
