People possibly poisoned by carbon monoxide in a church

Nine people were taken to local hospitals in Timisoara in western Romania on Saturday afternoon after passing out after they had returned from a church wedding to the boarding house where they were staying.

Local emergency inspectorate official Lucian Mihoc said the nine people started to feel sick on their way back from church and called emergency rescue service 112 as soon as they reached the boarding house in Gearmata Mare in Timis county.

According to Mihoc, the patients believed they might have been poisoned by carbon monoxide.

Local police were originally informed that seven people had been poisoned by carbon monoxide at their boarding house. However, police later learned the patients had started to feel sick after having spent a few hours in the church in Gearmata Mare.
