Man arrested for putting stolen weapons on sale

A man was arrested today (Fri) for having put guns on sale that he hade helped seize from a military unit in Ciorogarla in Ilfov county.

Liviu Iordan is suspected by special organised-crime prosecutors of having been a member of a gang who stole 62 weapons in January last year from a military unit in Ciorogarla.

Iordan and two others offered to sell ten pistols and three Kalasnikovs for 17,500 Euros.

Last December, investigators found 30 of the 62 weapons stolen in January.

The weapons were found to be functional and unused, as they had been stolen without ammunition. Investigators said then that the gang had intended to trade the weapons for heroin or sell them to a group inclined to acts of violence.
