Officer severely injured in Afghanistan

A Romanian soldier has been severely wounded in Afghanistan in a blast, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) informed earlier today (Fri).

Florinel Enache from the 280 Infantry battalion located in Zabul area was in a surveillance mission when an explosive device exploded on A1 motorway, MoD official say.

The military has been rushed at Langman military base where doctors are trying to save his life.

The 280 battalion from Focsani (East) sent mid-January 600 troops to Afghanistan for a period of six months.

Romania,  who takes part in NATO’s mission in Afghanistan with 1,663  military, intends to withdraw its troops in the second half of 2013.  Romania lost 17 men since the start of ISAF mission in Afghanistan in 2003.
